Fiverr fees for sellers and buyers, explained

Updated 23 October 2026

Quick answer

At the time of writing, Fiverr takes 20% of every order, so sellers keep 80%, including on Gig Extras and tips. Clients pay a separate service fee of 5.5%, plus $3.50 on purchases under $200, and your earnings clear 14 days after the order completes (7 days for Top Rated sellers). Withdrawals to PayPal are free; Payoneer methods cost $1 to $3.

Fiverr seller commission: you keep 80%

Fiverr takes 20% of every order. Its Payment Terms say each order you sell and complete credits your account with earnings equal to 80% of the purchase amount, and its help centre adds that this includes Gig Extras and tips. On hourly contracts you earn 80% of your hourly rate for the hours on each completed weekly report.

  • A $5 Gig earns you $4.
  • A $100 order earns you $80.
  • A $1,000 project earns you $800.

The 20% is the same whatever your level, and Fiverr Pro sellers receive 80% too. One exception is Fiverr's Logo Maker, where sellers earn between 20% and 50% of each sale depending on their sales tier.

The price on your Gig is treated as including any taxes you owe as a seller, such as VAT, GST or income tax. Those are your responsibility, so check your local rules or speak to an accountant.

Tips on Fiverr: what the seller keeps

Clients can tip once an order is complete, for up to 30 days. The minimum tip is $5; on orders under $25 the client can tip up to $25, and on orders of $25 or more up to 100% of the order value.

Tips are treated like any other purchase: you keep 80%, the client pays Fiverr's service fee on the tip as a separate transaction, and the tip goes through its own 14-day clearance period. Fiverr says you can accept tips but advises against asking for them.

The Fiverr service fee buyers pay

Clients pay a service fee on top of your price, so it doesn't come out of your 80%:

  • Gigs: 5.5% of the purchase amount, plus a $3.50 small order fee on purchases under $200, as of September 2025 according to Fiverr's Payment Terms.
  • Hourly contracts: a $5 order initiation fee on each new contract, plus 5.5% of the hourly rate.
  • Every payment has its own fee, so extras and tips each carry a separate service fee.

So a client ordering your $100 Gig pays $109: $100 plus $5.50 and the $3.50 small order fee. In some regions Fiverr now shows clients the all-in price while they browse; Fiverr says that's a display change only and doesn't affect what you earn or how your Gigs rank.

Fiverr clearance period: when you can withdraw

Earnings aren't available straight away. Fiverr holds them for a safety clearance period after the order is marked complete:

  • 14 days as standard.
  • 7 days for Top Rated sellers and Seller Plus Standard and Premium members.
  • 7 days after each weekly report on hourly contracts.

An order is marked complete when the client accepts the delivery, or automatically if they don't respond within three days of delivery (14 days for Gigs with shipping).

Early Payout lets Top Rated sellers and Seller Plus Premium members clear earnings sooner for 1% of the amount cleared, calculated on your earnings rather than the full order price. It doesn't cover hourly orders.

Fiverr withdrawal methods and fees

Once your earnings clear, you can withdraw them using these methods at the time of writing:

MethodFiverr withdrawal feeMinimumTransfer time
PayPal$0$1Within 24 hours
Bank transfer via Payoneer, local currency$3$20One to three business days
Bank transfer via Payoneer, USD$1$20Five to seven business days
Payoneer account$3$10Up to two business days
Fiverr Revenue Card (existing cardholders only)$1 to $3$30Up to two business days

A few rules to know:

  • You can withdraw up to $5,000 per transaction, and make several withdrawals for larger sums.
  • There's a 24-hour wait after your first withdrawal and after adding or changing a method, and 48 hours after changing your verified phone number.
  • Each payout account can be linked to only one Fiverr account.
  • Withdrawals are final and can't be reversed.
  • The Fiverr Revenue Card was discontinued in December 2022 and is only for existing cardholders.

Currency conversion: you can always withdraw in US dollars. If you choose another currency, PayPal or Payoneer handles the conversion and may apply its own rate and fees, so the amount that lands can be less than you withdrew. Fiverr says it sends the full amount you request.

Seller Plus, Fiverr Pro and other optional costs

None of these change the 20% commission, but they can add to your monthly costs:

  • Seller Plus Kickstart ($15 a month): for new sellers without a level yet, with Gig feedback and promotional tools.
  • Seller Plus Standard ($25 a month, Level 1 and above) and Premium ($49 a month, Level 2 and above): advanced analytics, promotions and coupons, $5 a month of Fiverr Ads credit, priority support and 7-day payment clearance. Premium adds Early Payout and a dedicated Success Manager. Half-yearly and annual billing cost less per month, and taxes may be added in some countries.
  • Fiverr Ads: optional promoted placement in search and category pages, paid per click.
  • Fiverr Pro: a hand-vetted tier for business clients. Pro sellers still receive 80% of the order value.

Worked example: a $100 Fiverr order with a tip

Say a client orders your $100 Gig, you deliver, they accept it and add a $20 tip. You're not Top Rated, and you withdraw to PayPal. At the time of writing:

StepYour earningsRunning total
$100 order completed+$80.00$80.00
$20 tip from the client+$16.00$96.00
14-day clearance$0.00$96.00 available
Withdraw to PayPal$0.00$96.00

You keep $96 of $120. The client pays $109 for the order (your $100, plus 5.5% and the $3.50 small order fee) and $20 for the tip, plus the tip's own service fee.

  • Withdraw to a local bank through Payoneer instead: the $3 fee leaves you $93.
  • No tip: you keep $80 of the $100 order.
  • A $500 order: you keep $400, and the client pays $527.50 with no small order fee.

How to keep more of what you earn on Fiverr

  • Price with the 20% in mind. Divide the amount you want to receive by 0.8: to take home $100, charge $125.
  • Use packages and Gig Extras so clients can spend more in one order rather than several small ones.
  • Mind the small order fee. Clients pay $3.50 extra on purchases under $200, which can make bundled packages better value for them.
  • Withdraw to PayPal if it works where you live: Fiverr charges nothing.
  • Withdraw less often, in larger amounts, if you use a $1 or $3 method.
  • Compare exchange rates before you pick a withdrawal currency.
  • Only pay for Seller Plus or Ads if you'll use them. A $25 monthly plan needs real extra orders to pay for itself.
  • Keep payments on Fiverr. Fiverr's Payment Terms don't allow paying or being paid outside the site, however tempting it is to skip the fee.

Comparing Fiverr with other freelance sites

Fiverr's 20% is higher than some marketplaces but you don't pay to apply for work. Our Fiverr vs Upwork vs Freelancer comparison and Freelancer.com fees guide set the costs side by side. If you also bid on Freelancer.com, MoreGigs can bid there for you with a fresh proposal per project, priced inside the client's budget. It doesn't work with Fiverr. Check your profile for free.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Fiverr take from sellers?
20% of every order. At the time of writing, Fiverr's Payment Terms say each completed order credits you with 80% of the purchase amount, and Fiverr's help centre confirms that includes Gig Extras and tips. A $100 order earns you $80.
Does Fiverr take a cut of tips?
Yes. Fiverr says sellers earn 80% of the purchase amount on tips as well as orders, so a $20 tip gives you $16. The client also pays a service fee on the tip, and tips have their own 14-day clearance period.
What is the Fiverr service fee for buyers?
At the time of writing, 5.5% of the purchase amount, plus a $3.50 small order fee on purchases under $200. Hourly contracts carry a $5 order initiation fee plus 5.5% of the hourly rate. The client pays these on top of your price.
How long does Fiverr hold your money?
Earnings clear 14 days after an order is marked complete, or 7 days for Top Rated sellers and Seller Plus Standard and Premium members. Hourly contracts clear 7 days after each weekly report. Orders complete automatically if the client doesn't respond within three days of delivery.
How much does it cost to withdraw from Fiverr?
Fiverr charges nothing to withdraw to PayPal (minimum $1). Payoneer withdrawals cost $1 for a USD bank transfer and $3 for a local-currency bank transfer or a Payoneer account. Your provider may add its own fees or conversion costs.
Does Fiverr Pro or Seller Plus lower the commission?
No. Fiverr Pro sellers also receive 80% of the order value, and Seller Plus is a paid add-on for tools, faster clearance and support rather than a lower fee.
Is it free to start selling on Fiverr?
There's no charge per application like Upwork's Connects or Freelancer's bids: clients find your Gig and order. Fiverr's money comes from the 20% commission and the buyer service fee, plus optional extras such as Fiverr Ads and Seller Plus.
How do I price a Fiverr Gig to cover the fee?
Divide what you want to receive by 0.8. To take home $100 from an order, price it at $125. Our Fiverr fee calculator does the sum for any amount.
