Free freelance invoice generator
Updated 23 October 2026
Fill in your details, the client's, the line items and how to pay you, then press Download PDF to save a clean invoice. It's free, needs no signup, and everything stays in your browser. Your details are remembered for the next invoice.
Your invoice stays on this device: nothing is sent to us. “Download PDF” opens your browser's print window; choose “Save as PDF”. Check what your country requires on an invoice, such as a tax number.

How to make an invoice in a minute
- Fill in your details and add your logo if you have one. They're remembered for next time.
- Add the client, the invoice number and the payment terms. The due date fills itself in.
- List the work as items with quantities and rates. Add a discount or tax if you need them.
- Say how to pay you: bank details, PayPal or Payoneer, or a payment link.
- Press “Download PDF” and send it. “New invoice” keeps your details and moves to the next number.
What to put on a freelance invoice
- A unique, sequential number (INV-001, INV-002) so you and your accountant can track it.
- Clear dates: when it was issued and when it's due.
- Specific items: “Homepage design, 2 revisions” beats “Design work”.
- Tax details if you're registered for VAT, GST or similar. Rules differ by country, so check yours or ask an accountant.
- Easy payment instructions. The easier it is to pay, the faster you're paid.
How to get paid faster
- Agree payment terms before you start, ideally in a written freelance contract.
- Take a deposit on larger projects and invoice by milestone.
- Invoice the day the work is delivered, not at the end of the month.
- Send a friendly reminder on the due date, and a firmer one a week later.
Price the work right first
An invoice only helps if the price was right. Work out your rate with the freelance rate calculator, and if you work on marketplaces, check what you keep with the Freelancer, Upwork and Fiverr fee calculators.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this invoice generator really free?
- Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit. It runs in your browser, and the draft is saved on your device so you can come back to it.
- How do I download the invoice as a PDF?
- Press 'Download PDF'. Your browser's print window opens with only the invoice in it; choose 'Save as PDF' as the printer.
- Do you see or store my invoices?
- No. Everything you type stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to MoreGigs.
- What should a freelance invoice include?
- Your name and contact details, the client's details, a unique invoice number, the issue and due dates, a description of the work with quantities and rates, the total, any tax, and how to pay you. Some countries require more, such as a tax or VAT number.
- Should I invoice through Freelancer.com or Upwork instead?
- For work you won on a marketplace, use the platform's own payments, such as Freelancer.com Milestone Payments; paying outside the platform usually breaks its terms and removes its protection. Use your own invoices for direct clients.
- What payment terms should I use?
- Net 7 or Net 14 suits most freelance work. For larger projects, ask for a deposit up front and invoice the rest by milestone.
