Freelancer.com AI Bid Writer, explained

Updated 23 October 2026

Quick answer

Freelancer.com's AI Bid Writer drafts a bid proposal for you from your profile and recent projects. It's included with the Plus, Professional and Premier memberships: click Write my bid in a project's bidding section, edit the draft, then set your own bid amount and delivery date, which it doesn't fill in.

What is the Freelancer AI Bid Writer?

The AI Bid Writer (Freelancer also calls it the AI Bid Proposal Writer) is a Freelancer.com feature that drafts the text of your bid for you. According to Freelancer's help article, it uses information from your recent projects and your profile to write a personalised proposal for the project you're bidding on.

Three things Freelancer is clear about:

  • It only fills in the proposal. It doesn't set your bid amount or delivery date.
  • You can edit it before you submit, and Freelancer encourages you to add a personal touch.
  • You're responsible for what it says. Review the details before you send the bid.

Freelancer doesn't document much beyond that, such as which languages it writes in or how it decides what to include, so treat anything else you read about it as unconfirmed.

Where to find the Write my bid button, and how to use it

  1. Open a project you want to bid on and go to its bidding section, where you'd normally type your proposal.
  2. Click Write my bid. The proposal field fills with a draft based on your profile and recent work.
  3. Read it properly. Check every claim against what you've really done, and delete anything that isn't true or isn't relevant.
  4. Make it yours: rewrite the first line, add proof and a question (see below).
  5. Enter your bid amount and delivery time yourself. The writer leaves these alone.
  6. Submit the bid. It uses one of your monthly bids, as any bid does.

How much does the AI Bid Writer cost, and are there limits?

There's no separate price. Freelancer includes the AI Bid Writer with its Plus, Professional and Premier memberships, so the real cost is the plan. At the time of writing (October 2026), Plus is the cheapest plan that includes it and comes with a one-month free trial. See Freelancer membership plans for current prices.

PlanAI Bid WriterBids a month
BasicNo50
PlusYes100
ProfessionalYes300
PremierYes1,500

Freelancer's help article doesn't mention a daily cap or extra charge for the writer itself. What does limit you is your bids: each one you place, written by hand or by the AI, uses one of your plan's monthly bids. Free accounts don't get the writer either. Freelancer's usual project fee applies when you win work; see Freelancer fees.

How to get better results from the AI Bid Writer

  • Improve your profile first. The writer draws on your profile and recent projects, so a clear headline, a specific summary, the right skills and a few portfolio items give it better material.
  • Rewrite the opening line. Name the client's problem in your own words. It's often all a busy client reads before deciding.
  • Add one piece of proof. Point to a similar project in your Freelancer portfolio or reviews. Keep it on the platform: Freelancer lists sharing or asking for contact details in a bid as something to avoid.
  • Answer the brief. If the client asked a question or set instructions, deal with them directly.
  • Ask one specific question about the project. It gives the client an easy reason to reply.
  • Price it yourself, sensibly. Set an amount inside the client's budget and a delivery time you can meet. Freelancer warns against bidding very low and raising the price once awarded.
  • Never send the same text twice. Freelancer lists generic proposals with exactly the same content on multiple projects as a practice that can lead to penalties.
  • Keep it short and proofread it. Freelancer's own tips ask for proposals that are concise, sincere and checked for spelling.

Writing by hand

Still the best choice for a high-value project you really want, or when the brief needs careful thought. It costs nothing but time, and it's the easiest way to sound like yourself. The downside is time: careful bids take a while, and clients often read proposals as they arrive.

Freelancer's AI Bid Writer

The most convenient option if you're already on Plus or above and bid by hand: it's inside the bid form and already knows your profile. You still find each project, set the price and send the bid yourself.

MoreGigs' free proposal generator

Our free AI proposal generator works on any Freelancer plan, including free and Basic, and on other platforms too. It doesn't see your profile: it writes from the brief you paste and only the experience you type in, so it won't invent anything. It's free with no signup and has a daily limit.

MoreGigs

MoreGigs does the whole loop on Freelancer.com. It checks new projects in your skills every couple of minutes, skips likely scams, tiny budgets, crowded or stale listings and off-skill work, writes a fresh proposal from your real profile for each good match, prices it inside the client's budget and sends the bid, paced to your Freelancer plan. On Plus that's about one new bid every 7.3 hours; on Premier, about one every 30 minutes. It runs on its own servers around the clock, so it keeps bidding while you're offline. It works with Freelancer.com only, and you'll still want to reply to clients yourself. See how Freelancer auto bidding works, or compare other tools in the best AI proposal generators.

Frequently asked questions

What is the AI Bid Writer on Freelancer.com?
It's a built-in feature that writes a bid proposal for you. Freelancer says it uses information from your recent projects and your profile to create a personalised proposal, which you can edit before you submit.
Is the Freelancer AI Bid Writer free?
It's included with the Plus, Professional and Premier memberships rather than sold separately, so free and Basic accounts don't get it. Freelancer's help article doesn't mention any extra charge for using it. At the time of writing, Plus comes with a one-month free trial.
Where is the Write my bid button on Freelancer?
In the bidding section of the project you want to bid on. Clicking Write my bid fills in the proposal field for you.
Does the AI Bid Writer set my bid amount and delivery date?
No. Freelancer says it only fills in the proposal field. You have to enter the bid amount and delivery time yourself.
Is there a limit on how many bids the AI Bid Writer can write?
Freelancer's help article doesn't document a separate limit for the writer. Each bid you place still uses one of your membership's monthly bids: 100 on Plus, 300 on Professional and 1,500 on Premier at the time of writing.
Can I edit what the AI Bid Writer writes?
Yes, and you should. Freelancer encourages you to customise the bid before submitting and says you keep full responsibility for its contents, so check every claim and add your own detail.
Will clients know I used the AI Bid Writer?
Freelancer's help article doesn't say whether clients are told. Either way, a proposal that opens with the client's problem, shows real proof and asks a specific question reads like you wrote it.
Is there an AI bid writer for free Freelancer accounts?
Not the built-in one. On a free or Basic account you can use MoreGigs' free proposal generator: paste the project brief and copy the proposal into your bid.
